Pantera.
Slayer’s songs are pretty much about the same damn things, followed by shitty screamish vocals, and with the rest of the band playing like a screamo band. They have a few good songs, but other than that, they suck. I wish it someone else, instead of Slayer, at Mayhem Fest this year.

I’m obligated to say Slayer because I own a Kerry King Signature Warlock.
Also, I generally like slayer’s guitar breakdowns and rythms more, especially bloodlines. Heh, and actually, Slayer was kinda before screamo... So, modern screamo bands are trying to sound like Slayer.

Agreed, they do have a few nice breakdowns. And yeah, I know they were before screamo, but that was the best way I could think of at the time to describe it. Theres just something about the way they sound, and I dont know how to explain.

dimebag made pantera. if slayer had incredible solos and blues riffs i would say its a close match. slayer is the most original in the speed/thrash category by far though.
pantera is one of those bands that the more you listen to, the better they get. kinda like tool

They both have good and bad qualities. Pantera’s singer sucks ass. Dimebag does some nice riffs. Slayer’s drummer is great but the guitar licks are way to schizophrenic for me.
Therefore, they both mostly suck. I like Megadeth.
