So, I’m watching "Vh1’s: Greatest Songs Of The 90’s" and I’m curious to know what some of everybody’s favorite songs of the 90’s were?
I’m asking because VH1 is obviousl only going to pick the singles of the 90’s and then have the people their interviewing fake that they actually "owned the record" and such and confess how much they liked it.
I’m more curious though because the majority of the users on this site grew up in the 90’s, and I’m sure had their music taste they have now shaped by what they used to listen to.
Discuss.

I didn’t get really into music until roughly 2001 though my favorite music memory from the 90s is no doubt Weird Al’s "Fat" and "Amish Paradise".

I started listening to Social Distortion in the 90’s. So I guess you can say they were my favorite.

Yeah. I remember buying soundtracks primarily to every Movie or T.V. Show because they always had good music on those when I was a kid.

See, I just was never able to get into Weird Al. He always just pissed me off.

Damn, that’s crazy you were into them in the 90’s. then again, they were on the radio if I recall and they got kind of big, but nowhere near like huge mainstream success.
Did your parents listen to Hair Metal and you were just around it so much that you took a liking to it, or did you listen to it on your own?
I’m trying to compile a list of what I remember asking my dad to get so I could listen to them anytime I wanted.

Both of my parents are huge Social Distortion fans. My dad went to high school with Mike Ness.

Damn. Were they friends, or what?
I thought of one catchy as shit song that I still love, and even though it’s going to sound cliche for Ska fans, it’s "Sell Out" By Reel Big fish. I mean, that was the point of the song, but it was probably one of the best songs on the radio during the decade in my opinion. I also remember listening to "Zoot Suit Riot" by The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, just because they kind of revived that "swing" style for awhile with that song.
I’ll think of some more though.

My parents grew up in the 70’s, so that’s what I was raised on, moreso 70’s Punk thanks to my dad, but my mom was a fan of 80’s Arena Rock and Hair Metal bands, so I’ve developed a liking of some of them.

Green Day, Screaming Trees (music could have even been from late 80’s), AiC, Nirvana, alot of stuff defined the 90s for me.
