Rofl, hydrochloric acid can be bought at hardware stores nub. Why steal it?
Steal any per/chlorates and Mg turnings or aluminum powder
Potassium Dichromate. Just because its bright fucking orange.
Anything with a warning on the label really, is BOUND to be fun.

Mix everything with "oxidizer" written on it with everything "highly flammable/inflammable" and shake. If nothing happens try heating it, lighting it, drinking it.

Often when people think of chemicals in a chemistry lab, they think of strong acids and things that create "explosive" reactions. One of the most underrated chemicals is Phenolphthalein. It is an pH indicator: it reacts red to acids and pink to alkalines. It can be used to create secret messages on paper. You write the message on the paper and let it dry. There is no indication the message is there... until you spray the paper with, say, vinegar. Then the message appears. Furthermore, if you mix it with hydrogen peroxide and a small amount of isopropyl alcohol, you get an indicator for the presence of blood.
Another interesting chemical is white phosphorus. It used to be used heavily in laundry detergent as a brightener. It glows it blacklight and can be mixed with dyes to make blacklight glow solutions.
