I just read on another thread about sports that people think skateboarding is a sport. ir is not. ask any hardcore skater or pro skater and they will give you the same awnser. it is not a sport. it pisses me off when people call it a sport. it is fun as hell and there is nothing like it, but it is not a sport. another common misconception is that if you are good at skateboarding, your probably good a snowboarding or surfing or any other board related activity. wrong. skateboarding is skatebaording. nothing else.

personally I’e been skating well over half a decade, and i concider it a sport.
a personal sport, but a sport none the less.
my legs are stronger, i have a high sence of balance, and im a lot more inshape due to skating, so in my mind, yeah it’s a sport.
it IS a lifestyle, but a LOT of sports have their own lifestyle.
Skiing, Mountain Climbing, Football, Racing.

just because you get better at balancing and stronger legs dosent make it a sport.
and by the way, five years aint that long, try skateing for 12.

i think it is an artwork, can just anyone make a piece of wood pop off the ground and down a 7 stair without any problem? skating takes time to get good at but when you get good, it is amazing.

If you consider it an "artwork" then you’re saying anything that takes time to be good at is an artwork.

I think it’s a sport, it requires coordination and some kind of endurance. And if ESPN can air a spelling bee and call it a sport, then so is skateboarding.
