Aug 06, 2008 10:20 pm - OoooO new camera I bought a Samsung L100 camera from circuit city yesterday. Sure beats the camera phone with its poor resolution and crappy photos.
8.2 Megapixel (takes pics so big my computer can’t process them)
3x optical 3x digital zoom
10 mb internal memory
640 and 320 pix 30/15 frame video
2 hr battery time
face recognition
camera shake fixer
and lots of other features
on sale, 109.99
It took a bit of figuring out how exactly am I supposed to take a photo of the camera without another camera. with a bit of fancy mirror work, I got this.
Taken at 3MP setting, no flash, 2 sec timer
Aug 06, 2008 11:00 pm - Crank up the mega pixels, it will make your pictures come out clearer. Just a suggestion, unless you don’t have a card for it.
Anyways, awesome though. I have a Samsung camera, I think its something like a S850, its it fairly good camera, although I think something is wrong with it. Lol, not to talk down the brand, I’m just making a statement about my particular one, my friend has the same one and loves it.
So you are totally coming out with pic heavy eggs, right?! haha

I have a computer running 128mb ram, and it handles my 8.some-odd mp images... Save up for computer upgrades, or change the junk that automatically loads on boot.

Skeet Skeet. Windows 98? Or dare I say 2000?!! hehe.
It could be his video card (Or lack there-of) also.
Aug 07, 2008 1:07 pm - I can view 8MP pictures, but when it comes to process them, my computer can’t deal with even 5 MP images with ease. for example, right now I’m stitching together 3- 5MP images using mspaint. Each file uses a whopping 256 MB of memory, 256 ram and 256 virtual memory. higher resolution images larger than 3 MP is just too big for my computer to handle.
Well I’m getting a new comp in November, so in the future I probably will be able to use 8MP. Its already selected- Phenom 4x 9550 with 8GB 800mhz memory, with a graphics card more powerful than my entire computer put together. Its just too expensive to upgrade my (nearly 7yrs) computer now, so I’m getting a new one.
Aug 07, 2008 3:48 pm - There are issues, but it works. That’s the wife’s machine. Uploading photos, and Myspace are all she uses it for, so it’s ok. Mine has 1gb, because I usually have a decent amount of crap going on...

What exactly do you mean by "process them" ? Are you talking about editing or something, because now that I do think about it, my mother’s computer that I was talking to Dodge about, views and does mild editing (cropping, etc) all on 128 MB of RAM.
If you are having trouble with memory usage, go into control panel and bump up the Virtual Memory to 1.5 - 2 Gigs. I can’t tell you exactly where to go because I am currently on my g/f’s Vista laptop, so I have no idea where it is on XP. However, later when I get home on my machine, I will check and post it for you.
Perhaps something is wrong with your machine, I mean after 7 years (I’m assuming you have never reformatted or did a destructive recovery) a lot of junk can accumulate and slow a computer way down.
By the way, a quad core? Money bags!! haha jk jk, Get what you want. Just personally, I don’t see the need for a Quad core anytime in the near future. Some programs are just now getting support for Dual Core Processors, it will be another 3 to 4 years before they get Quad core support. Also, you might already know this, but if you plan to run 8 GB of RAM, you will need to run a 64 bit system, Vista or XP. With a 64 bit system you will probably have many program incompatibility issues. Lemme fix that... You will most definitely have program compatibility issues. I’m not trying to talk you out of what you want, I am just stating some facts for you.
In my computer running Windows XP Home SP3 with 3 gigs of RAM, and a 3.0Ghz Pentium 4, I have blazing fast speeds in opening programs, multitasking, Alt+Tab ’ing between windows, etc. On my g/f laptop running Vista Home Basic with a 1.4Ghz Core 2 Duo and 2 GB of RAM, I also get fairly fast speeds, ones that are close to that of my computer. I’m telling you this to try to make the point, that in reality, you don’t need much more than 4 GB of RAM. Also any 32 Bit system, will only recognize about 3.5 of 4 Gigs of RAM, but you will not have program issues, because everyone makes their software compatible with 32 Bit OS’s. (I’m sure there are exceptions, I’m just saying a majority guarantee compatibility with 32 Bit.)
Wow.... I just typed... a lot.
Jun 22, 2008 10:41 pm - WooHoo 5,000 dollars Yesterday my bank informed me I have $5,000.00 in my saving account. It took me 3 years longer than I had hoped, but I got to my goal of $5,000. What’s special about it is that I can max out my credit card (balance limit- 5,000) and not go into debt since I actually have enough money to pay it all off. How many people can say that?
Jun 23, 2008 5:21 pm - Yeah I was going to mention that too. Unless you’ve found an interest free credit card in which case please tell us who your card is with.
Jun 24, 2008 8:56 am - I don’t even have a bank account.
I=fail
Jun 21, 2008 6:15 am - How to kill a mockingbird (not the book) I’ve been without a good night’s sleep for about 9 weeks now, and I’m at the very end of my tolerance and patience. I’ve ID the bird to be a mockingbird (one bird) and I need info as to killing one, all I’ve found online is info about the book, not the bird.
I learned the bird is extremely smart, once a threat presents itself the bird hides and studies the threat. if the threat cannot cause serious harm (example- airsoft BBs) the bird will ignore it and go about chirping away. I learned they’re very resistant to being shooed away, I cannot scare them with rocks, airsoft BBs (even if one hits the bird), BB gun BBs, rim fire blanks, .22lr shotshells, and generally loud noises of any kind. I even fired some wooden bullets at them. I figured the ear-shattering muzzle blast would scare them away. Didn’t work.
So how does someone kill a mockingbird? I need weaknesses, someway to draw them in to within 10 yards, on the ground, to shoot them with the shotgun. Neighbors generally mis-identify the first report of any firearm, believing it was a car backfiring, nail gun, blown out tire, firecracker.
Jun 21, 2008 4:29 pm - Go to Home Depot or other gardening store and get a statue of an owl. Put it close to where the bird is bothering you (i.e. on the roof of your house).
Jun 21, 2008 4:30 pm - PS You don’t need the power of a .22 or higher to kill it, just get a pellet rifle if you must. But, using the owl statue is nicer.
Jun 22, 2008 9:03 pm - the biggest problem with the .22lr is that the bullet goes right thru the bird, significantly increasing the chances of hitting people downrange. About 1/3 of 203,000 people in my city lives downrange of me, I really don’t wanna take that chance. Even the CB subsonics go all the way thru a bird.
the pellet gun I’ve tried. Its just crap, 100 feet maximum range, just enough penetration to hurt a bird, not kill it.
Good news though- I hit 2 little black birds yesterday. They’ve stopped bothering me from 10pm to 4 am. Still a problem in the mornings, when it gets light the birds all starts chirping like crazy again.
Jun 23, 2008 5:25 pm - Yeah we use an owl to keep birds out of our vegetable garden. I don’t know why an owl would be out in the middle of the day but birds are dumb. If you wanted to get him close I would suggest putting out bird feed so that he focuses on that instead of you lining up your shot.
Jun 24, 2008 9:38 pm - Scare Tactics Buy 50ft. of 1/4in. shiny silver streamer. Make a cone out of orange paper with a dime sized hole in one side. Glue/tape streamers on the inside. Make 10 of these. Hang them around the bothersome area. Proven results in 2-5 days. I did this because of woodpeckers burrowing in my roof, leaving their nests, and the nests were taken over by mockingbirds. This actually works. Is an egg needed?
Jun 06, 2008 5:41 pm - new rifle for me! May, 2008
I found a used Ruger 10/22 at Fowler’s Gun Store about 4 weeks ago. Like my other long guns, I have a tendency to find guns that the previous owner bought, fired a couple times, forgot about it, and now in debt, needed to sell it. My Norinco SKS (Oct 2007) apparently sat covered in cosmoline for about 10-15 years in some guy’s closet.
My Western Auto (March 2008) was a little bit more worn, but obviously rarely used and except for some scratches on the stock, its pretty much new. Whoever had it before bought it from someplace like Ace Hardware in the 1960s/1970s.
And now my Ruger 10/22 Carbine, witch I don’t know its age, I found it in nearly new condition (except the last person who owned it fired a couple hundred rounds, didn’t clean it and sold it).
Anyway, I had a very pleasant experience at Fowler’s Guns, the service was great, employees knew about what they’re selling, and prices are reasonable. I highly recommend them if anyone wants to buy a gun. They even give out free gun bags when you buy a gun from them.
Now, for the pics.
Ruger 10/22 Carbine Serial number #231-31283
Ruger 10/22 left side
2 magazines shown, 10round Ruger magazine, 10 round "Hot Lips" Butler Creek.
Currently both loaded with Remington .22lr Subsonic (which works and cycles the weapon), shown is one of 42 bricks of Walmart Federal 36 grain High Velocity .22lr ammo. Bulk Pack of 550 each, $11.97/brick
Ruger 10/22 Right side, with the clear 10/22 magazine inserted.
The scope is a BSA 4x32. I bought it from walmart at about $25.00. Compared to my Barsika (big 5- $29.99) 4x32, its 4 dollars cheaper, but also that much lower quality. Oh well, it works and the crosshairs are only unfocused at ranges less than 10 yards.
Apr 15, 2008 11:44 am - uploaded finally to profile pics
Mar 24, 2008 5:36 pm - my third gun! March 19th
I decided on what to get. It wasn’t even on the list, I was swayed by its low price.
119.99 for the gun, the cost of only one paycheck. in comparison, my other choices would cost me a whole lot more money.
Its a Revelation 20 gauge shotgun. Basically a cheap Mosserburg 500 shotgun. 5+1 magazine and 26" barrel.
I wonder would it be legal to chop down the barrel to 19", would I require a permit or something? the 26" is just really long. too long.
anyway, I’m pleased to find that the ammo is cheaper than the SKS. As soon as the 10 day waiting period is up, I’m going shooting with it. I hope the kick isn’t too bad.
on the ammo storage, I figured out a way to store lots of ammo in a compact and safe way. I’ll make an egg about that later.
Mar 24, 2008 7:22 pm - i’m pretty sure the shortest a barrel can be is 18 inches. you could make it shorter but you have to go through a federal background check (if you’re not at least 25-30 they usually automatically reject you) and pay a $200 tax. Or you could be a badass and break the law
Mar 24, 2008 8:09 pm - you should have got a 12GA, but for 120 its not bad.
Quote:
I hope the kick isn’t too bad.
lmfao... its a 20 GA, if you just useing buckshot the kick is nothin. if you shoot a slug it will have a nice kick but not bad. shooting my 12GA with buckshot i didnt even notis the kick.
Mar 24, 2008 8:14 pm - Shotguns
Minimum legal barrel length, for a shotgun barrel, is 18"
Minimum overall length, for any shotgun, is 26". Break that law, and you have a short barrelled
shotgun, even if the actual barrel is 18" or over.
You may not have both a pistol grip and a telescoping/folding/colla sible stock on a semi-automatic shotgun. Break this rule, and you have an
assault shotgun.
You may not have any semi-automatic shotgun with a detachable magazine. Break this rule, and you have an assault shotgun.
Bear in mind that none of these rules apply to pump-action, lever action, or otherwise non-semi-automatic shotguns.
Mar 24, 2008 8:34 pm - in colorado you can have the saig 12 its a twelve gage based off of the ak 47 assult shotguns are legal in colorado but 20 buck will be perfect dude
Mar 25, 2008 1:58 pm - I got a Mosserburg. My older sisters boyfriend gave it to my father to hold for me when i was about 13 before he passed away but now im old enough to carry it. I don’t know too much about guns so i don’t want to fuck up my shoulder playing with it. All i have is slugs for it.
Mar 25, 2008 8:34 pm - yo make sure you have a slug barrel before using a slug you will destroy your choke otherwise
Mar 13, 2008 10:40 am - ca legal ak-styled rifle- should i get it? Yesterday I had an unexplainable urge to go to Big 5, where I found the odd looking AKM, which had been converted to pump action so Is California Legal. The cool thing is that it still accepts high cap AK mags. Its called the Romanian PAR 1 made specifically for sale during the 1994-2004 AW Ban, and for wherever the ban still applies, like California.
Since the middle of February I been trying to decide what rifle should I buy, originally between a Mini-14 (thats .223), and M1 Carbine (.30 carbine).
Its a hard decision since both have advantages and disadvantages, and both cost around 700$.
Now I added the crummy looking PAR 1 to the choice. Its 249.95, something that doesn’t break the bank.
How I figure to pay for it is to wait for my "economy booster" check or 300$, my tax refund of 300$, and to sell all my textbooks I got for free from the government. All in May, should net me about 1000$.
At least for the PAR-1 I got ammo for it, since its also shoots 7.62x39 (like my SKS). But I’ll need to double the stash from 4800 rounds to 9600, since I would have two guns using the same caliber. And that won’t be cheap since US citizens are always last on the "first come, first serve" basis.
So what’ll it be?
Ruger Mini-14 765$
.223 (5.95 per box of 20)
each mag is 27$
M1 Carbine 670$
.30 carbine (19.95 per box of 50)
each mag is 30$
Romanian PAR-1 $249.95
7.62x39mm (5.75 per box of 20)
each mag is 35$
Mar 13, 2008 8:25 pm - Or get a high point carbine. You can get a .40 or a 9mm custom stocks ect ect Or you could go with there hand guns .45, .40, .380, .380 comp, 9mm, 9mm comp. i have the .40 and i love it.
Mar 14, 2008 2:20 pm - the mini 14 is made by ruger a very trust worthy company and can take high capacity mags. .223 is also alot easier too find ammoman.com you can get 1000 rounds for about 300 dollars
Jan 10, 2008 12:10 am - Spud Gun.. Sort of I’m continuing last years project to build a spud gun. Last time it ended with the lack of funds to complete the project. Then when I had funds, I decided to buy a gun (a very expensive investment) Then another gun when I found the chance. Now, in the new year, I decided to finish my spud gun project. I have figured out a way to bypass local laws banning spud guns. The trick to to have it not use pneumatic or combustion system.
I use 1500 joules electricity (about 1/10th of a lighting strike) and dump it instantaneously into a liter of water. The water vaporizes and propels a projectile.
I’m also planning to add as many ’illegal’ features possible, they are illegal if found on any firearm in the state of California. two or more and the firearm becomes an illegal ’assault weapon’. With this method it can’t be even classified as a spud gun. Nor airgun, firearm, BB gun, or water gun.
The barrel is a 24" 1/2" copper pipe. I adapted it to 3/4" PVC. The chamber is made of 2" PVC. My power supply is an array of inverter grade capacitors that each stores 500 joules. Paralleled, makes 1500 joules. The charge time is about 15 seconds.
The gun will feature:
1. a barrel shroud (made of 1" PVC)
2. a suppressor (made of tin and cast-lead disks)
3. a pistol grip
4. detachable magazine of 15 rounds
5. Self-loading ability (housed inside th 3/4" adaption)
6. A thumbhole stock (some an airsoft gun)
I still need to figure out how the auto-loader works and I need suggestions of any more ’illegal’ features to add.
Jan 10, 2008 9:13 pm - A life would have saved you money and time, but hey, it’s a fucking spudgun! Imagine all the girls you’re gonna get!
Dec 29, 2007 1:42 am - Machine Gun SKS As it turns out, its totally legal to shoot of the Ortega highway. According to the national forest people, all you need to do is be 150 yards away from a campsite, building, residence, or anyplace people can be and its legal.
I brought my Marlin .22 and my SKS on top of this hill near bluejay campground off of No Main Divide.
I shot my .22 first, and noticed that while its easier on the ears, the shots are more amplified in an open area. And they sound different. Something to keep in mind if you intended to shoot out in the open.
I brought a shit load of stuff to blast away into, given the fact that I need not clean up after myself and that if I miss its unlikely I would hit someone or private property.
First off, the .22lr or .22long is not a peashooter round. It can penetrate 2 inches of concrete or all the way thru a small tree. I also shot into random things on deserted roadways, such as road signs and port-a-potties (checked to make sure no one’s in it).
Next came my SKS. I bought it used for $250, apparently the last owner brought it and never used it, or even bothered to clean off the cosmoline.
Apparently I didn’t realize I can’t just wipe it off, I need to boil it off. Anyway, the cosmoline still packed in the gun cause it to fire in an only full-auto mode.
The only to fire one shot at a time was to load one round into the magazine and slowly slide the bolt forward.
I nearly shot myself when I slammed to bolt forward; it discharged into the ground right next to my foot!
I initially started full auto but it was just too uncontrollable. I started level, but after the 3rd shot it was into the air, depositing bullets more than 2 miles downrange.
I got tired of shooting all over the place and shot single rounds into trees and trash that was lying around.
While uncontrollable full auto, I found the recoil totally controllable and surprisingly soft in single shots. And just about everything exploded when hit with bullets, discarded beer bottles, plastic coolers, even the dirt. the trees had a little tiny dimple for an entry, but a golf-ball sized hole for an exit. Then I went back to full-auto shooting, loading 3 rounds (the always gun fails to load the last one) into road signs. I was able to group them well enough to leave one massive hole in the middle.
Anyway, 167 rounds later, it was time to go, I cleaned up the best I can, but really couldn’t find all the spent casings. Its not surprising, in single shot mode they’d go all over the place, full auto they’d fly randomly, some landing at the bottom of the hill.
As soon as I remove all the cosmoline (which is next Wednesday), I’ll probably go back out there to shoot some more, but in semi-auto mode. The SKS was not designed for full auto, it’ll probably explode if I do that again.
I’ll probably be able to go back out in about 2-3 weeks. email mail me if you’re interested in shooting a SKS.
Jan 10, 2008 12:13 am - Stuck firing pin. After painstaking cleaning it out, It still sticks. I might buy a new bolt. Then I will have a ’auto’ bolt and a ’semi-auto’ bolt. Just strip the gun to change between firing modes.
Dec 16, 2007 1:52 am - Shot my SKS some I got around to shooting my SKS on Monday.
Being the fact that I live in a densely populated suburban area, I had to wait until all my neighbors were out.
Then I needed a suitable backstop so I wouldn’t shoot a hole thru the concrete wall into my neighbor’s yards. Then I got my target, a three-month old coconut that I just couldn’t open, even with a hammer.
It was around 4:30 pm when I walked out into my backyard with my SKS, I loaded one wolf round. I put the coconut about 15 yards away, with three bags of sand behind it.
Even thru my ear plugs, the gunshot was a loud crack, I hit the coconut perfectly, dead center. There was a surprising amount of recoil, enough to lift the muzzle up about half a foot. The spent cartridge ejected and I couldn’t find it. I hope my parent’s don’t find that, it’ll be very hard to explain.
The coconut, at the moment of impact blew apart, spraying its sour milk all over the backstop. My .22 punches small holes. my SKS blew it apart.
I didn’t have anymore fruit; I underestimated the power, I thought I would at least have something left to destroy.
Next, I loaded two Remington rounds, and shot a cinder block. I had a 1" entry, and a 3" exit. The Remington rounds sounded thunderous thru my ear plugs compared to Wolf, living within 200 yards of the freeway, I realized at it was possible several drivers may of thought that there was sniper on the freeway someplace (like the DC sniper). And then realized that there was a good chance a cop may of heard the shots.
I cleaned up, and put my rifle away, and acted as if I didn’t do anything of the sort when my parents came home later that evening.
I want to shoot my rifle some more, hopefully sometime next week off the Ortega Highway.
Is it legal to shoot out there? it seems pretty isolated.
