Egg Content Rules
Here at RottenEggs, we all enjoy great pranks, awesome tutorials, and exciting explorations... However, there are some things that are against the rules. Breaking these rules results in either Egg dropping or deletion, lengthy bans, even account deletion. Adhere to these simple rules in order to benefit from a great community with a substantial library of pranks, explorations, and tutorials.
The Egg:
Due to the nature of public submissions, these rules are subject to change without notice, although most rule changes will be posted in the General Discussion forum.
If, after reading the following list of rules, you have ANY question about the content of your Egg, please contact an Egg Mod or an Administrator, or post a question in General Q and A.
Rule 1- SPEGGS
Posting speggs is prohibited. The term 'spegg' on this site means posting an Egg with nonsense content, or any pointless repeated posting of a word, phrase, image, topic, or code, or repeating a word, phrase, image, topic, or code within an Egg. It also includes purposly posting a large image or long line of text in order to make site navagation difficult (stretching the page, horizontally and/or vertically).
Rule 2- EXPLOITS
The use of ANY exploit on this site is prohibited. The term 'exploit' on this site means any code or program that causes abnormal functionality of the site. That includes codes or programs that abuse the rating system, block functionality from other members, or benefit or hinder any account.
Rule 3- ADVERTISING
Advertising is prohibited. There is to be no advertising products, services, or sites in Eggs. That is not the purpous of the Egg Directory.
Rule 4- PORNOGRAPHY/SHOCK IMAGES/VIDEOS
Posting pornographic/shock images/videos ANYWHERE on RottenEggs.com is prohibited. Posting LINKS to pornographic/shock images/videos within the Eggs is prohibited. Any attempt to 'trick' someone into clicking a pornographic/shock image/video link will result in a severe penalty. All images/videos uploaded to, or posted within an Egg on RottenEggs.com must be rated 'PG'.
Rule 5- REFERRAL LINKS
Posting referral links within Eggs is prohibited. It will be viewed as advertising and be reported to the referred site as spam. It is viewed as a disruption on RottenEggs.com, and will not be tolerated in the Recent Eggs Directory. It is, however, allowed in user-made Group Forums created specifically for referral links.
Rule 6- THEFT TUTORIALS
Theft Eggs/Tutorials are prohibited. This includes (but is not limited to) breaking and entering, mugging, blackmailing, shoplifting, pocket-picking, purse snatching, vending machine theft (cash or products), payphone theft (cash or service), receipt scams, internet scams, automotive hotwiring, false street sign bicycle theft, theft of service (any kind), etc. If the guide you post is an obvious stepping stone to the commission of a theft, it's prohibited. Eg.1: An Egg with an explicit explanation of the wiring under the dashboard and in the steering column of any particular car would be dropped, because the main reason for needing that information is hotwiring, which (most often) leads to theft. Eg.2: An Egg with an explanation on how a cylindrical lock on a soda machine works, and hints towards their inherant flaws would be dropped, because the main reason for needing that information is lockpicking, which (most often) leads to theft.
Rule 7- BOMBS
Bomb Eggs/Tutorials are prohibited. Bombs are any device or package that uses a chemical, thermal, or any other reaction within a container, creating confined pressure and ultimately rupture, causing shrapnel or forces that can cause bodily harm to people or animals, or physical harm to structures such as buildings, bridges, cars, trees, etc. These include grenades, mines, claymoures, CO2 cartridge bombs (crater-makers), dry-ice bombs, 'Works' or 'Drain-O' bombs, etc... Fireworks with report are not included in this category.
(Definition-'Fireworks with report': Any paper tube/ball containing explosive powder {ignited by a fuse or electric circuit} created solely with the intent of creating a loud noise and/or bright flash.)
Rule 8- SUICIDE HOW-TO
Suicide instruction Eggs/Tutorials are prohibited. This includes lists of methods, noose-making, how not to get caught in the act, how to 'get attention' by attempting suicide, etc. Anyone who feels the need to post this should seek medical attention themselves.
Rule 9- VIOLENCE TOWARDS PEOPLE
Eggs/Tutorials based on violence and/or hatred are prohibited. This includes stories about, and guides for committing, murder, manslaughter, assault, rape, etc. Violence towards a person, group, race, gender, etc. (random or specific) is not what the Egg Directory is for. Posting Eggs about committing violence towards any person/people will not be allowed.
Rule 10- ANIMAL CRUELTY
Eggs/Tutorials describing or involving animal cruelty are prohibited. This includes animal fighting, killing neighborhood pets/strays, injuring animals for no reason, etc. Exceptions are guides to dispatching pests such as rodents, bugs, spiders etc, as long as it's humane.
Rule 11- POISONS
Poison Eggs/Tutorials are prohibited. This includes natural plants and chemicals/man-made chemicals and compound mixtures of natural plants and chemicals/man-made chemicals that can be used to sicken or kill people or animals.
Rule 12- DRUGS
Drug Eggs/Tutorials are prohibited. {'Drugs' shall hereby include the common 'street drugs', 'over-the-counter drugs', and use of products against their labeling in order to get 'high' or 'stoned', such as 'robotripping' and 'huffing'.} This includes tutorials on how to obtain drugs, how to grow/create drugs, how to sell drugs, how to use/abuse drugs, what to do while under the influence of drugs, how to make/obtain drug paraphernalia, how to concentrate drugs, and how to cover drug usage up, such as how to cheat urine tests, etc.
Rule 13- CRACKED/HACKED/WAREZ PROGRAMS AND KEYGENS
Eggs/Tutorials involving cracked/hacked/warez software and/or keygens are prohibited. Cracked/hacked/warez software is commercial software that has been altered or distributed in a fashion in order to bypass the payment for said software. Keygens are programs designed to forge the alpha-numeric key used to 'unlock' trial versions of pay software. Eggs with instructions on how to bypass payment for software, and/or containing links with the purpose of downloading, torrenting, or otherwise illegally obtaining software while bypassing the normal payment process for that software to the rightful owner will be dropped.
Rule 14- MALICIOUS PROGRAMS/CODE
Eggs/Tutorials based on, or created to spread or utilize malicious programs and/or code are prohibited. Malicious programs/code can be viruses, trojans, worms, spyware, keyloggers, etc., as well as code meant to capture information about the viewer, such as cookies, passwords, credit card numbers, etc., and includes links to the same.
Rule 15- HOTLINKING IMAGES
Eggs/Tutorials with excessive hotlinked images are prohibited. Hotlinking images is usually against the source's rules. Images should be in your own Photobucket or Imageshack type account. If you link to the image on someone else's site, you are using their bandwidth without permission, and also they may change their image URL. Then your image won't work anymore, potentially spoiling your Egg. Eggs that are image heavy, and mostly hotlinked will be dropped because once the hotlinked images change, the Egg becomes useless, and nothing more than a waste of RottenEggs' space.
Rule 16- COPIED MATERIAL
Copying and pasting large portions of information into an Egg without credit to it’s origin is prohibited. All Eggs should be original works. Copying someone else's tutorial/idea from RottenEggs or any other site wil be viewed as copyright infringement, and the Egg will be dropped.
Rule 17- PERSONAL INFORMATION
Posting anyone's personal information within an Egg is prohibited. The term 'Personal information' refers to anyone's real name, home street address, work street address, home phone number, work phone number, cellphone number, email address, instant message screen name, Myspace/Facebook/etc. page address, screen name for any website other than RottenEggs, personal passwords, license plate number, license/ID number, Social Security number, credit/debit card number, bank account number, map coordinates, or any other information that could compromise any person's privacy/security. If you are found doing this, you risk account deletion and banishment from this website.
