JAVALIGHT!
Not really. But I was bored, had some time to kill,
and just finished drinking one of my favorite drinks,
Java™ (Mean Bean).
I gathered my supplies:
.................
This fairly simple.
Cut the design and lettering out of the can carefully with the razor knife.
BE CAREFUL. don’t get cut. Fold some of the edges in with the needle nose pliers to make wider holes.
Cut out the bottom indent so you can insert your light.
Make the hole just big enough.
Assemble your light onto your 9 volt battery.
This procedure will vary with the type of light you use, but should basically be like this:
Stick leads to battery. Tape as necessary.

I wrapped my battery with aluminum foil because it was black, and could be seen through the holes.
If you use LEDs like I did, you don’t need a switch. It’ll last a long time on one 9v.
Mine is from a truck supply store, and sells for about $2 (US). I ripped the lens off, so it would be brighter.
Halloween jack-o-lantern lights would work just as well.
Place the battery and light on the desk, and lower the can on top of the assembly.
THAT’S IT!
So... In retrospect, this wasn’t my best egg, but it killed my boredom. If you’re bored, and want a simple project, give it a shot. :-D
Jun 23, 2008 8:46 pm - Great stuff, I will post pictures sooner or later. My plan is to use an old phone charger i have and throw a switch in the middle of that and a few larger LEDs. I’m thinking yellow LEDs inside of a Monster M-80 can as to mimic the original color of fore-mentioned can.
Oh, and I forgot to add...
You can hack apart a USB cable, and power it off your computer. I was about to cut a cable while making it, then I realized I need all the cables I have.
Check the interweb for drawing power from a USB cable.
Jun 24, 2008 7:07 pm - This is by far the best egg I’ve seen in a long time. It doesn’t particularly interest me, but it is extremely well written and developed, and of course it’s MONSTER so 5*
Jun 25, 2008 7:18 am - 5* i just had a java last night and a full throtle coffee, vanilla flavored, the coffee flavored energy drinks are actually pretty good. I threw away both the cans though =*(
Jun 29, 2008 6:25 pm - i tryed this with with a big monster can, like 32oz and i came out alright. the cutting part was hard. i think it would be better to use a normal size can because the suport is only on the edge of the can (top and bottem) so in the middle the aluminum is flimsy and easy to break. i am going to try a normall size tomrow and ill let you know if it works better.
Aug 07, 2008 9:09 pm - i didnt read this all the way because the pic says it all but i shaved a candle down to fit and used a candle,

cool as hell
